Is Dickey Doo’s for Sale?

Most of you who tend more toward ‘Fo’ instead of ‘Po’ might not know what a Dickey Doo is.

To be honest, we barely do either. But we’re familiar enough to recognize its insides.

Oh, we just realized that might not sound right without a little context. Dickey Doo’s is a bar on the south side of Powell, roughly at SE 66th. There’s a pretty rad bar across the street, as well as a tienda and taqueria. We don’t have much more in the way of reference points for you. (Powell still has a ways to go in that regard.) However, it’s definitely worth noting that they’ve had a Prince cover band play there on multiple occasions.

So while we ‘re passing our time away looking online at bars for sale –I have no good explanation for why we were doing that–we couldn’t help but to notice a familiar resemblance to one of our local watering holes. Now, for fear of A) totally exciting people in the market for a bar to buy in the neighborhood, only to let them down, B) disappointing its patrons who (may, or probably don’t) read our blog, and who totally dig the current owners, and/or C) misleading people all together, let’s get this disclaimer out of the way: we don’t actually know if Dickey Doo’s is for sale. They may be as secure as secure can be and the owners have no intention of selling.

But….

The above pictures look eerily familiar. (More can be found here.) And it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a bar in that location sold. If indeed Dickey Doos is for sale, a new owner and name would make for at least four in the last half dozen years.

If you are in the market for a bar, do your due diligence. We’re merely connecting dots that may or may not exist.

yep, photos from the bar match the photos in the listing… that’s certainly the same bar…

don’t think I’ve ever been in there… sports bar in this location is going to try to capture drive-by traffic, but there’s barely any parking for this building… they really need their own theme to make this place a destination… some sort of outdoor seating would also help, but there’s not a lot of room for that…
