We’ll hold back from sharing too many details, as plans are still in the works, but since it’s now public information, we thought we’d delight you all with news of a taproom-to-be on Foster (at SE 69h).

And with it, too, means the gap between the “Heart of Foster” and the Portland Mercado closes a little, as this stretch will be a little less desolate and a tad more vibrant.

A recent liquor license application for 6913 SE Foster shows a taproom serving beer and wine is in the works next to SMART Collective and I Heart Retro. That’s quite a trio.

And with proposals for a mixed-use development on the vacant lot just west of the Mercado, as well as the recently available Save-A-Lot space and neighboring laundromat across the street—remember, the Save-A-Lot lease is expiring today—perhaps Foster’s commercial core will become a little more continuous and vibrant.

As for the taproom, again, we’re going to be stingy on details, but the liquor license does say there will be shuffle board and ping-pong at the former martial arts studio and Russian tea house (cum video store). There’s a sense that this place will be family friendly, too.

Stay tuned…
