I can’t help watching the Blazers play the Spurs in San Antonio without thinking, “where the basement in the Alamo is.” Five points to whoever knows that reference.
Ok, on to more important things…it’s the weekend. And the sun reappears (maybe for an extended stay) on Mother’s Day. Enjoy, all.
Here are your weekend tidbits…
– The Portland Mercado officially breaks ground this coming Thursday, 5/15, followed by a design engagement party. Get a sneak peak at what the now vacant lot at 72nd and Foster will someday look like. The gathering takes place from 5 – 6:30 at Mt. Scott Community Center. RSVP required.
– Kern Park Flower Shoppe is now open. And they have flowers. Remember to support your local businesses when shopping for mom this weekend.
– There’s a work party at the Foster-Powell Community Garden this Saturday, from 10a – 4p. Any help to rid the place of weeds will be much appreciated.
– Your Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association meets this coming Monday, from 6:30 – 8:00 at Bar Carlo. It may not sound exciting, but it’s a good way to get involved in the neighborhood if you are so moved.
– Weekend happenings:
N.W.I.P.A.- Bend IPA Challenge, Saturday
Starday Tavern- John Nilson and the SwimFish, Friday; Bordertown, Saturday
Gemini Lounge- Ashby Scaggs, Saturday
