In the Market for Commercial Space?

Lansing MapWell, another commercial space is on the market.  And that’s a good thing considering the glut of idly-sitting buildings that are neither for sale nor for lease.  Unfortuanately, it also spells the apparent end of a longtime, neighborhood business—Lansing Linoleum.

The property in question is a rarity for Foster: usable space with an owner who has not allowed the building to fall into disrepair.  The building, located at 7303 SE Foster, currently houses one of the neighborhood’s most established, family-run businesses.

Lansing LinoleumThat’s the bummer part of the deal.

The bonus?  A rare piece of commercial real estate that is move-in ready; near the future Portland Mercado; just a block from Firland Parkway and the business strip of SE 72nd; across the street from a nursery.  We’ll go ahead and ignore the fact that the former Grandma’s Funky Furniture site is next door selling God-knows-what.  But that’s just part of the charm, right?

Good luck to the folks at Lansing Linoleum if they are indeed ending their tenure in the neighborhood.

I wish we at Red Castle were in a position to buy. Seems like an awesome property.

The large corner lot next to Lansing is also for sale (think it’s Grandma’s Funky Furniture):

It would be cool if someone filled the Lansing building with an actual family friendly restaurant (I know, asking a lot, right?), or a brewery (again, kid friendly) that maybe allowed people to bring in food cart food from the Mercado across the street.

    • The two spaces offer great opportunity: one as move-in ready, usable building; the other would appear ready for development now. With the Mercado not far away, there’s quite the potential for this corner of Foster.

  4. Dear Foster Neighbors,

It is true that Lansing Linoleum Company is closing this summer after 66 years on Foster Road !
The showroom will be open until July 25th for sales of stock materials and orders that are stocked in Portland or Seattle.
We are not accepting any new installation orders, but we will be happy to refer you.
We will keep showroom hours during August, and we invite you to come by and browse our stock liquidation sale or just say hello (or goodbye!).
Our building is up for sale, but Performa Floors (they do wood floors),who have been sharing space with us in the building, are tentatively planning to take over the main showroom as a tenant beginning in September. The Lansing family would love to see a great neighborhood business buy our building. We have had a number of folks who have come to look, but no commitments as yet. We have lived our lives on Foster Road, and thank you all for your business and good will over the years.

Never knew that the one block boulevard of 72nd between Holgate and Foster is called Firland Parkway…thanks!
