The ever evolving commercial strip of Foster, between SE 60th and 61st—now home to Tambayan Filipino Restaurant, a Vietnamese video shop, Heads High Barbershop, and a tienda—can now add boutique hair salon to its list of tenants.
Welcome to the neighborhood, Wild at Heart.
With Dusty’s Bar and the Y-Arts center on each side of them, and Nayar Taqueria, Meticon Bikes, and a (maybe soon-to-be) guitar shop catty corner to them (and Torta-landia just beyond that), this stretch of Foster may be a bit under-recognized. If nothing
else, it may have the most varied cluster of active/occupied storefronts on the western stretch of Foster.
Back to Wild at Heart. This is from their recent Craigslist posting:
“I’ve just opened a new (hair only) salon in the upcoming Foster/Powell hood and would like to bring on 2 independent contractors for either part or full time. The salon is boutique in feel but fairly large in size (over 825 sqft) with plenty of room for 3. Separate color/break room already built in. I will provide stations/chairs/back bar/utilities. Looking for professional people with no/low drama who are dedicated to their craft/clientele. I’m old school in how I treat my people – like they are the most important thing when they are in my chair BUT I also like to have a good time at work and laugh as much as possible throughout the day.
The space is beautiful and fully functional now and will keep improving in the next coming months including more art work and furniture. Rent: 3 days a wk for a month: $450, 4 days: $550, 5 days: $650.
Booking: No receptionist. I use Genbooks and highly recommend it or another on line booking tool.
Check out my website: http://mychalpink.com/ if you like. I’m in the process of building the new Wild at Heart site. My Pinterest “look book” which I built for inspiration in creating the space. http://www.pinterest.com/mychalpink/wild-at-heart/“
The only question now is: how will they do with Heads High barbershop a couple doors down, and Salon Mojo two blocks to the west?
