Hacienda CDC Awarded $200,000 to Make Portland Mercado That Much Radder

Portland Mercado

$201,959 to be exact.

After securing a large grant ($800,000) last year, the Portland Mercado went from an unfunded idea to an actual, planned development for the SE corner of 72nd and Foster.  Now the project, which is part of Hacienda CDC’s jump into community development, has secured an additional $201,959.  Through PDC’s Community Livability Grant Program, the additional funds will go toward constructing a commissary kitchen at the future Latino entrepreneur and incubator space.

The Mercado grant represents one out of five total projects awarded money in the Foster area, and almost a quarter of the money granted in the Lents Urban Renewal Area for fiscal year 2013-14.  Hopefully this puts the Mercado on pace for groundbreaking within that timeframe.
