What’s that, you say? Sun? After breaking rainfall records in September, as well as being forced to cancel Fun on Foster, the parting of the clouds almost seems like a mean joke from the weather gods. And now, after summer ended abruptly with rain, wind, rain, and then a typhoon, the sun comes back as a reminder of what fall can be like in Portland. Don’t look beyond this weekend, though…hint, it doesn’t last.
Here are your weekend tidbits…
– We know fall can be nice in Portland, but after the cancellation of Fun on Foster last weekend, should the event be moved to the beginning of September or in August for the coming years? Not that Fun on Foster is the be-all and end-all of summer happenings, but it’s uniquely ours….why not preserve it and give it the best chance to thrive?
– We know this has been played out over and over…but what are your thoughts on a “road diet?” As we know, it’s become a likely option for Foster, in which a new streetscape plan could add bike lanes and better pedestrian conditions by reducing four lanes of traffic to three (one in each direction, with a middle turn lane). For reference, Division just had a similar reconfiguration between SE 62nd and 80th. If you’ve driven it, turned on to it, or biked it, we’d like to get your opinions. The Portland Tribune just ran an article indicating mixed reviews, so we’re curious what you thought about the potential for a road diet on Foster.
– Wednesday night movies at Bar Carlo for the rest of October:
10/9, The Wolf Man; 10/16, The Creature from the Black Lagoon; 10/23, The Mummy; 10/30, Dracula.
Let us know what we missed. Be cool, Foster.
