Meet Your Neighbor: Rachel, from Pieper Cafe

This week’s Foster Folks brings us back to Pieper Cafe, where bagels and mochas get whipped up by some of the raddest baristas around.  Today we meet Pieper’s own, Rachel.

Rachel from PieperKnowing our neighbors makes for a brighter and safer community. Who are you, and what is your connection to the neighborhood (resident, business owner, neighborhood advocate, etc)?

“My name is Rachel and I work at Pieper Café.”

How long have you lived or worked in the neighborhood, and what do you think makes it unique?

“I’ve worked at Pieper for about a year and a half. The wide array of people and the older buildings and homes in the area give the neighborhood its charm.”

What are your favorite neighborhood haunts (for food, shopping, walks, drinking, entertainment, etc)?

“Torta Landia is a rad spot to go for a margarita and some food. I also enjoy going to NWIPA for something great on tap. Once the Portland Mercado opens, i’m sure i’ll frequent there, too.”

It’s a fact, our neighborhood is pretty rad. How do we keep it that way…and then some (i.e. enhance our parks, more n’hood events, more businesses, less tweakers, etc)?

“It would be nice to see more of the empty storefronts filled. There seem to be lots of families moving into the neighborhood and with that, I hope aspiring business owners see the potential the neighborhood has.”

SteveIf you could pick a theme song for the neighborhood, or choose a celebrity that best exemplifies the character of it, what/who would it be?

“I would have to say Steve Buscemi could represent fairly well!”
