Seen in FoPo

Poetry BoxAh, the little world of interactive sidewalks.

Lents has their Little Free Libraries.  South Tabor has their information kiosks.  And now poetry boxes are popping up in Foster-Powell.

This isn’t a new concept, and can actually be seen in many neighborhoods across Portland.  Still, it’s a charming little effect that can only bring more character to the neighborhood.

The poetry box to the left is open for passersby to pull from, borrow, or view on the spot.

Remember, sidewalk strips, though part of the public right of way, can be extensions of your yard and offer a great opportunity to add shrubbery, landscaping, art work, or increase the neighborhood canopy with street trees.

Get creative with it—if that’s your thing.
