Busy, Busy Saturday to Come

Our weekend to-do list is usually reserved for Fridays, but we thought you could stand for some advanced planning on what’s proving to be a busy, busy Saturday.

First up is the FoPo Garden Tour.  Gardens west of 67th will be on display from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and those on the eastern half of the neighborhood will be open from 1 to 4 p.m.  In addition to seeing the many wonderful gardens, several local businesses have donated gift certificates to be raffled off.  The Foster-Powell Community Garden will also be open for the duration of the tour.  For more info, check out the Tour’s online home at FoPo Gardens.

While all of you are getting your garden tour on, Carts on Foster will be hosting The Crafty Underdog’s craft/art show, from noon to 7 p.m.  If you’re in the market for locally-made crafts and artwork, vendors will be selling their goods amidst Yakisoba noodles, eggs benedicts, and burgers.  Hey, what’s another stop after visiting nearly 60 gardens?

If you’re feeling uber-local, hyper-Foster, and turbo-charged, Saturday also brings us Foster Art Night and the accompanying Fucking Art Night at the Foster Road Salon.  Both of these events draw a day of neighborhood, family-friendly fun to a close with a more raucous, sultry and avant-garde (yes, all in one) evening of arts and libations.

If you’re looking to prioritize (because, hey, you love Foster, but can only devote so much of your life to it), remember that the garden tour only happens once a year.  Or maybe it’s not your thing.  You can also make it into a choose-your-own-adventure type of day.

Have at it, FoPo.

    Hey, fyi:
Michael Schildmeyer, owner and chief instructor at Defense Arts Northwest will be teaching a couple self defense classes for the kids at the Crafty at the Carts event. The classes are free and should be both informative and a ton of fun! Times aren’t confirmed just yet but we’re probably looking at 1:00PM and 4:00PM. Look for updates at http://www.Facebook.com/DefenseArtsNW or give em a call at 503-779-9800 for more info.
