FoPo Community Garden in Need of Donations

62nd Birds EyeAfter working with ODOT officials for the last couple years, one Foster-Powell resident has finally been able to initiate the transformation of a vacant, concrete lot on SE 62nd Avenue, just south of Powell Blvd.  The site of a former gas station, now paved over and left to weed and decay, this lot will soon become the Foster-Powell Community Garden.

But not without your help.

The organizers behind the garden will need some resources.  And to help them build raised beds, add potted plants, provide water, dirt/compost, benches and other additions, any and all donations are welcome.  Actually, not any and all—here’s a list of specific needs:

  • rain barrels
  • hoses
  • fill dirt (especially the kind you are willing to deliver)
  • garden soil (especially the kind you are willing to deliver)
  • wood chips (especially the kind you are willing to deliver)62nd Street View
  • pea gravel (especially the kind you are willing to deliver)
  • bricks, pavers or chunks of cement for building the retaining wall (especially the kind you are willing to deliver)
  • garden tools
  • a tool shed
  • a wheelbarrow
  • birdhouses, a birdbath, feeders and seed
  • small shrubs for the sidewalk area
  • large pots with or without potted plants (some bamboo would be nice)
  • sturdy wooden palettes

If you or someone you know can help, this will go a long way in making FoPo that much radder.  For more information about the garden, proposed plans, and how to help with your donations, check out the website, 62ndGarden.
