It’s safe to say that Lents’ gain is FoPo’s, too…and vice versa. Ditto for Mt. Scott-Arleta and the other Foster-area neighborhoods. And as we push to make the Foster area better on this side of 82nd, we sincerely hope to have a positive impact on the other. And thus we all prosper.
In the meantime, Lents just scored one for its surrounding neighborhoods and we all get to benefit. After more than a year of planning, and months of finalizing a deal to secure a space, the Green Lents Community Tool Library becomes a reality this Sunday, July 29, with a grand opening that coincides with the Ramona Street Fair. Located at 9211 SE Romona Street, the new community tool library will serve Lents, Foster-Powell, Mt. Scott-Arleta, Powellhurst-Gilbert, Pleasant Valley, and Brentwood-Darlington.
And while tool lending may be the focus, this will indeed be a community hub with such offerings as meeting space, workshops, gardening and building guides, seed swaps, and other resources to draw out your inner DIY. With the community focus, though, comes a shared responsibility. And so as you borrow at will and utilize the resources it may offer, the Green Lents Community Tool Library will only be as successful as we make it. That means volunteering your time and/or know-how, making donations, and helping to keep it alive. For ways to get involved, get more information or make a donation, please check the following links:
