Open House Tonight for Proposed East Portland Enterprise Zone

Join the PDC tonight at the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) building to learn more about a proposed enterprise zone in East Portland.  The E-Zone as proposed will focus primarily on properties along and east of 82nd Avenue.  However, Foster Road, starting at SE 50th, is included in the proposed boundary…and for good reason.  The intention of the enterprise zone is to provide incentives for business owners who make capital investments in their operations.  In turn, they receive tax breaks that have proven to grow business in affected areas.  On Foster, just as in the other areas included on the proposed boundary, business growth has been tough to generate, as the commercial corridor still struggles to fill vacant storefronts.  Perhaps this will be a tool to help reverse that.

If you are interested in learning more, the meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at 10301 NE Glisan Street.  To read more about the proposed E-Zone and what areas it will impact, click here.

Does the E-Zone fall under the Lents Town Center Urban Renewal Area umbrella effort? Would it be part of FLIP? Don’t know yet because you haven’t been to meeting?
