The weekend is upon us, FoPo. It’s certainly feeling like Spring is around the corner. Perhaps it’s a good weekend to prep your gardens for this year’s plantings. Whatever you do, we hope you enjoy your weekend. Here are your weekly tidbits and goings on for the coming days.
– Foster Road and the “Heart of Arleta” get artsy tonight. The Slingshot Lounge will be unveiling new work from artists Reese Lamb and Ryan Leglar tonight. Take part in the unveiling with food, beer and music from 5:30 to 8:30pm. Further down the road, Space Monkey, on SE 72nd, will be celebrating one year under new ownership with a First Friday showing of Chris Haberman’s art, as well as live music. Show some love for the arts, as well as the current ownership, from 6 to 10pm.
– Have you been to LGA’s Crafty Underdog Shop yet? Located across the street from Meticon Bikes, and next to the now-famed restaurant, Tambayan, Crafty has a wide assortment of locally made art and various crafts. You need baby clothes? Body care products? Post cards, photos, and artwork for the walls? Get ’em on Foster. Oh, and if you can’t find what you need, The Crafty Underdog will be having their monthly event on Saturday, March 11th, at the Mission Theater. Come one, come all.
– If you haven’t already, check out this article by Neighborhood Notes. It is a good “how to” guide for those seeking pedestrian safety improvements on such streets as Foster Road. There’s a lot of good info for folks who’ve grown tired of waiting for the city to address their concerns.
– Groove Kitchen with DJ Yaz this Saturday at Torta Landia. Sip on one of their signature drinks while listening to a mix of down tempo, drum and bass, and dub music. Oh, and the Tortas are pretty good, too.
Happy weekend, y’all.
