Art showings at Space Monkey and Slingshot Lounge this Friday

Coinciding with the SE Area ARTWalk, which, to be clear, does not include FoPo or Mt. Scott-Arleta, Foster Road and SE 72nd will show off their own arts scene this Friday evening with separate events at Space Monkey and Slingshot Lounge.

In a proud moment for the residents of Mt. Scott-Arleta, as well as the newest owners of Space Monkey Coffee, who will be celebrating completion of their first year of ownership, First Friday returns with a special event at the coffee shop.  Chris Haberman, who has graced the walls of O’Malley’s, will have his art on display, while the following musicians will play live:  Andy Price of Crash Parlor, Michael Griffith of Archers, Pedal Home, and Richard Day Reynolds.  This will be free and kid friendly.  Come any time between 6 and 10 pm.

And just around the corner, at 56th and Foster, the Slingshot Lounge will be hosting their own art showing, although not as kid friendly.  From 5:30 until 8:30, new art will be introduced, with the work of Ryan Leglar and Reese Lamb being adorned on the walls.  Food, beer, and music will provide the backdrop.  This will be a good way to further support the arts along Foster Road and its environs.  With enough support, First Fridays in Mt. Scott-Arleta can grow and draw more people to the neighborhood and allow the arts to flourish on both sides of Foster.  Please show your support for the neighborhood, its businesses, and local artists.
