Who are you?
We are passionate about coffee and community. We do a few other things at Speedboat: Breakfast sandwiches, pastries, teas, smoothies. But we work really, really hard on our coffee program.
What do you do?
Oh, see above
What is your inspiration? (Why do you do what you do?)
I used to work as a Service Writer at a Ford dealership. Every single person I talked to was there because they had a problem with their car and wanted me to get someone to fix it. Eventually I found my way into coffee and it is the polar opposite. Every single person I talk to is thrilled about what is happening here: They are getting their coffee and the LOVE me for it! They love me. I love them. They come back every day and we’re friends. That’s why we do it. That, and I really, really love coffee.
What brought you and/or your business to the Foster-Powell Community?
FoPo is great! It’s the perfect place for a neighborhood coffee house because so many families are moving in. It’s not expensive like Pearl or Hawthorne, and it’s a great place to raise a family. Families need coffee. Families need community. And a lot of single folks are here too because the cost of living is lower, so we see a lot of them.
What is your favorite way to enjoy Foster?
I spend most of my time working, and it’s great because Foster kind of comes to me. When I get a chance, though, I like to go poke around and see if I can discover a new place to eat or grab a drink, or it’s fun if I discover a new park my kids haven’t been to.
3 Ways to unite the Fine Folks of Foster
Don’t need 3. Coffee alone will do the trick. Coffee solves everything. And maybe whiskey. But mostly coffee.
How do you envision the future of Foster?
Great businesses keep coming here, great families keep moving here, criminals keep leaving, everything just keeps gettin’ better!
