FoPo just got funnier

As O’Malley’s continues to make the ‘hood more neighborly, they’re offering a wider variety of entertainment to draw people in.  They now bring to you, Hood-Larious, a FoPo take on the local comedy scene.

You know about trivia nights on Thursday.  And there’s all you can eat pizza on Sundays.  But now, replacing Heavy Metal Mondays, there’s also open mic comedy to start your week off.   Starting at 7pm Monday nights, you can catch local comedians, both funny and not, delighting FoPoians at all cost.  As stated by Boomer, the host of Hood-Larious, this is designed to “be fun for the comics and the audience….nothing’s really that taboo.”  In essence, it’ll be “funny people trying to make others laugh.”

Known locally for residing in the neighborhood and making your Dutch Brothers coffee, Boomer is also known across Portland for making up half the “Cort and Boomer Show” on KUFO (101.1).  Now doing his stand-up thing, he’s bringing his talents to O’Malley’s as host and occasional performer.  This is an open mic, but intended to capitalize and expand on Portland’s local comedy scene.  Anyone is allowed to perform, so long as the law allows (hint: be 21).  Shows start at 7pm (until 10), with sign-ups beginning at 6.  Show up a little early and take advantage of the happy hour specials.  And as the laughs stop, the night will conclude with music spun by local dj’s.

I had to check in on that all-you-can-eat pizza business. O’Malley’s isn’t doing it anymore. Still, good pizza at regular price!
