PPS to host community meeting on Marysville rebuild

In an odd attempt to encourage public engagement, while simultaneously limiting said engagement, the Portland School Board and PPS staff have invited the public to attend a brief, under-publicized community meeting this week to discuss the rebuilding of Marysville School.

While PPS does not advertise this meeting on their website, nor their calendar, rest assured, they want you to be abreast of all developments and keep you engaged in the planning process.  Fortunately, I was able to get ahold of a letter that PPS sent to Marysville parents, informing them of the meeting.  At least current families are being included in the process.  However, for those who don’t have school-aged children, the invite wasn’t so explicit.  Fear not, though…here’s your formal invite.

Sincerely,
FosterPowellPdx

  1. John Mulvey says:

I unfortunately won’t be able to make this –just too much other stuff on my plate. But I hope someone who attends will report back.

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that if the local community needs help moving this issue forward, I’m ready to help any way I can.

Mostly unrelated, but I heard something interesting last night from a very credible source. Apparently PPS is considering selling off their current HQ –the “Blanchard” building, near the Rose Garden –and moving their admin into the Marshall High School building.

  2. I know the idea’s certainly been floated around. I’ve heard everything from potential use as a sports complex, an extension of the Rose Quarter “Entertainment District,” and even a Costco. Let’s hope the powers that be see it to its full potential, as it’s in a great location.
