Alright, here’s our push to get you all back out onto Foster once the weekend’s behind us. We know some of you have kids and that Foster isn’t the most hospitable for families, but there are options. If you’re kidless, well, the options grow exponentially….but you already know where to go in most cases.
Here’s what’s unique to Mondays:
Laugh Yer Ass Off at Starday Tavern:
We don’t know how else to say this, but Starday is not Bob and Alice’s. Again Starday does not = Bob and Alice’s. And we say that because we can’t think of any other reason you’re not going. There’s good, live music most nights of the week and wonderful food (ok, only one of those statements is true). Still, the music is worth it. On Monday evenings, though, the format changes and Foster gets live standup comedy. Check it out.
Music Mondays at Midpoint Food and Drink:
You should be going for the food, but you can also groove out to your favorite music Monday evenings, from 7pm to close. Check the night’s theme (on Facebook) and bring your collection of tunes. Plug in your playlist and share with everyone else (tonight is Elvis night). Oh, kids are welcome.
Jazz Improv at O’Malley’s:
Pizza, beer, and….jazz? Yep, Foster’s evolving. Catch live jazz every first and third Monday, from 7 – 10 pm, at O’Malley’s. And if you didn’t know, kids are welcome in the front space (by the Foosball table) before 8pm.
Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association meeting at Bar Carlo:
Get to know the folks who bring National Night Out, the annual Garden Tour, Movies in the Park, and the joint-neighborhood cleanup with Mt. Scott-Arleta every year. Oh, and they do a lot of advocacy and behind the scenes work to make the neighborhood as rad as rad can be. Meetings are held on the second Monday of every month (except August), from 6:30 to 8:00 at Bar Carlo. Kids are welcome here, too. Check the NA website for agendas and other related info.
* Bar Carlo also has the occasional tv series playing. Most notably, when RuPaul’s Drag Race is airing, Big Gay Mondays is in effect. Check with them first, though.
If you know of any other recurring Monday happenings, let us know.
