Foster Burger graces the pages of Eater PDX, as they prepare for Thursday’s burger and beer dinner featuring Burnside Brewing. The food and drink pairings sound pretty rad, and a stout-made milkshake could cap the $30, five course meal off pretty well. Get your reservations made asap.

In more exciting news (and somewhat culinary related), the Portland Mercado has become less of an “if” and more a “when.” We announced their grant award a couple weeks ago, and now the Oregonian is reporting the vacant lot at SE 72nd and Foster could transform into a full-scale Latino market as early as summer 2014. Hacienda CDC is pushing the project forward with assistance from the PDC, and the timing may coincide with the construction of the updated Foster Streetscape Plan. Paired together, this is a transformative project and could be a boon to the neighborhood. Not only will Foster Road get more food and shopping options, but the potential vibrancy where Foster Road meets the SE 72nd business district and Firland Parkway is exciting. Hopefully we’ll learn more as the plans move forward.
