Is anyone else tired of smelling Oregon burn? A good rain would be nice, and hopefully it would put an end to the smoldering in the Gorge and Central Oregon. Here, though, keep the warm weather coming. This must be one of the more pleasant transitions from summer to fall in recent years. Let’s just hope it lasts through the weekend, as there’s a lot going on.
Here are your weekend tidbits…
- First, don’t forget to come out for Fun on Foster this Saturday. Represent FoPo, Creston-Kenilworth, Mt. Scott-Arleta, and Lents (can’t we just call the whole area one thing?) with live music, food and drink, and various crafts from several vendors who will line up at Laurelwood Park and in front of businesses up and down Foster. The festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- If you’re looking to get a jumpstart on the festivities, you can catch live music tonight at Torta-landia. Ike David and friends will be playing a tribute to Tom Waits. Yes, crusty, gravelly, genius, Tom Waits. And if the Blues is your thing, Gators Bar and Grill (for those closer to Powell) will be having an end of the summer bash tonight, from 6-10. Lady True Blue will be performing.
- And that’s not all with the live music. Actually starting last night, and running through the weekend, the Portland Prankster’s Ball will be keeping the Bobwhite Theater moving for the next couple nights. And I’m sure it’ll bring more people out to Foster, as well. This event coincides with the Further concert at Edgefield, and is being billed as the after party. For more information, and to see the lineup, check the event’s Facebook page.
- On Sunday, for those inclined to ride their bikes, the last of the Sunday Parkways will take place in Lents and the surrounding neighborhoods in East Portland. This is the closest these bikerides come to FoPo, so take advantage of it.
Have a good weekend, y’all.
