Events at Guapo Comics and Coffee

You’ve read the comics and drank the coffee.  You’ve taken your dog inside while you order, or sat outside watching the local denizens come and go.  You may have even supported your local artist by purchasing one of the many works of art hanging on the walls.

If not, you haven’t taken full advantage of Foster-Powell’s gem of a coffee/comic book shop: Guapo Comics and Coffee.  While the little shop on Foster Road, between 63rd and 64th, easily meets your caffeinated needs and comic desires, it accomplishes much more.  It is a place to eat…breakfast or lunch.  It is a place to relax and catch up on your reading. It is a place to watch the goings on of the neighborhood.  It is also becoming a hub in the middle of the commercial heart of Foster Road.

And now, Guapo Comics and Coffee will be hosting regular events to further bring the neighborhood together and promote the arts.  With the recent success of their ‘Twin Peaks’-themed art show and pilot episode viewing, Guapo has more events in the pipeline.  First up, Rebecca Yeaglin will be presenting her photography on Friday, December 3rd, at 6:30 pm.  This event will be followed by a night of music on Saturday, December 4th, at 6:30 pm, in which the following artists will be featured: Matthew Stone, Jake Escher, Beth Karp, and Reed Turner.

If you do go, feel free to let us all know how it was by leaving a comment.

Glad to see Guapo getting some extra love. As someone who has brought my dog with me and read the paper while drinking my coffee (delicious) outside, it is nice to know the recognition is given where it is deserved. Another great piece of writing Jeffrey, keep up the good work!
