Small Neighborhood Grants

The City’s Office of Neighborhood Involvement (ONI) is making $86,664 in grant money available to neighborhood associations and community groups across the city, specifically for projects meant to focus on community-building.  The small neighborhood grants represents the city’s efforts, now in its fifth year, to build, connect, and strengthen communites throughout the city.  Of the money available, $22,594 will be set aside for Southeast neighborhoods and community groups.  Southeast Uplift will be awarding the grant money through an application process, of which the grants can range anywhere from $500-$5000.  Preference will be given to proposed projects that demonstrate some collaboration between multiple neighborhood associations or community groups, especially those that engage populations that have typically been underrepresented.  Examples of past projects include school and/or neighborhood landscape improvements, murals, tree plantings, and neighborhood emergency preparedness training.  Applications will be accepted through 2pm, November 1, 2010.  Please feel free to cordinate with the Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association if you have any project ideas that would strengthen our community.  For more information, visit the Southeast Uplift website at www.southeastuplift.org.
