Portland Sunday Parkways is more than an event – it’s an experience!
In its third year, Portland Sunday Parkways has expanded to five events throughout the summer and all across Portland. Sunday Parkways events – which create an afternoon of car-free streets for families, cyclists, runners, walkers and just about everyone in between to enjoy – require 200-350 volunteers PER EVENT to ensure a safe and fun experience for all. Our biggest volunteer need is for Intersection Superheroes – which is a great way to enjoy and experience the event, while playing a vital role in making these FREE community events possible!
We’re really asking all Portlanders who enjoy Sunday Parkways and all that it stands for (livable communities, healthy families, alternative transportation, community building) to step up and volunteer – even just once – to ensure that these events happen again next year.
Here’s how the FosterPowellPDX.com community can help:
- Help us where we need it most and sign up for an Intersection Superhero shift at the NE event (May 16th) or one of the other four events.
- Spread the word! Every volunteer counts, so even finding two friends who will also volunteer for Sunday Parkways makes a big difference.
- Invite any groups, clubs, companies or other communities that you know that would be interested in volunteering. Groups can contact Lydia (Lydia@GoodSportPromotion.com) to create a unique and meaningful group volunteer experience.
To learn more and to register as a volunteer, visit www.PortlandSundayParkways.com or email Lydia (Lydia@GoodSportPromotion.com).
I hope to see all of the Foster-Powell community out at Sunday Parkways events!

It’s wonderful to see the non-profits taking full advantage of this site. I encourage anyone who has a need for volunteers from SE to use FosterPowellPDX.com as a message board. Well written stories and especially dear causes will make the front page. Good job, Lydia!~C
