PP&R Needs Advisors for Lents Park Master Plan Committee!

I know how much we Outer-East-Siders love Lents Park… well, here’s a chance to help steer its future! John M. passed on this email notice: “Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) is seeking interested community members to serve on a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) that will help guide the development of a Master Plan for Lents Park. If you are interested, please visit www.portlandparks.org to complete an interest form.”

It looks like you gotta fill out a form from that site; you’ll find the .PDF file here. There’s no better way to celebrate St. Patty’s Day, in my opinion, than to help protect our urban green space!

Thanks for posting this, Colleen.Lents Park is a jewel of SE Portland’s park system, but it has some problems too. The Parks Bureau was recently given $100,000 from urban renewal funds to do a real plan for the park. This is a first step toward identifying improvements that would make the park work better for its users. The deadline to apply is March 31, so don’t procrastinate! Fo-Po folks who are interested in Parks, or who use Lents Park, should definitely think about doing this.

Wow, that’s huge. I am a busy busy bee, so I can’t buzz into yet another project, but I sure do hope a Fo-Po-ista steps up! Thanks for keeping up with these things, John.
