If you’re straining against the drizzly weather, it’s time to get out and enjoy Portland’s amazing nightlife. Tonight, you can get buzzed on some blissful bluegrass, all for a good cause. The Sugarcane String Band is playing tonight from 6-10pm at the St. Francis Cafe at 1182 SE Pine St. The proceeds will benefit St. Francis outreach programs. Here’s the details, via CNRG.
Sugarcane String Band has been growing a crowd faithful followers since their debut several years ago. These guys hypnotize with their own groovy style of bluegrass rock and have been known to pack the house at the Goodfoot Lounge. They’ll be playing two full sets this SATURDAY, JANUARY 30th at the spacious St. Francis Cafe in Portland.
The door fee of $8 also covers a seasonal, organic slow-food style meal prepared by Chef James Doose, served from 6-7pm. The music will begin at 7pm. Wine and beer will be available for purchase for guests 21+ with a valid photo ID. Room decor will have some City Repair flavor!
Work trade spots are available. Email mbibeau@cityrepair.org for more info.
Proceeds from this event benefit the St. Francis Parish outreach programs. St. Francis Parish serves meals hundreds of homeless a day and also provides affordable office space to organizations such as The City Repair Project, Transition Town PDX, Portland ReCode and VOZ Worker Education Project.
