Wandering and FoPo go together. One of my favorite activities on these late summer nights is to wander through the neighborhood, checking out the beautiful gardens all around us. This weekend I didn’t have to wander too far to notice a very unique addition to the Foster-Powell landscape: a jungle gym on 72nd. I’m not talking about a mini- jungle gym for mini-monkeys. This is a playground of hanging pleasure, a half-dome of octagonal delight that takes up an entire front yard. How wonderful to live in such a quirky place, where the denizens appreciate play enough to let it appropriate their most public space.
Another sighting: the new BBQ window on 72nd, in the new mural and across from Mt. Scott Park. We walked over there on Friday, lips smacking, but were forced to go elsewhere when confronted with a sign reading “SOLD OUT OF FOOD!” I’m happy their BBQ is selling like hotcakes! Has anyone tried that place yet? Is the food worthy of its reputation?

That’s what the structure was for. They were testing their shade structure for Burning Man. Despite the fact that I grew up in Reno, I’ve never been. I’m jealous of those jungle gym-ers.
it’s supposed to be really good! it had a write up in the willamette recently and it is always busy! you can also get the food in the bar if you want a beer to go with it…
Thanks for the tip, rid! So there’s a bar attached to that tiny window? That’s so good to know.
